The Common Good Coalition is intended to be a mega-coalition (a coalition of coalitions)
of concerned citizens and already existing non-profit (NGO) organizations. Many of
these organizations are already organized into coalitions -- environmental issues,
for example. The term mega-coalition is used to demonstrate the magnitude
of the effort needed for meaningful change.
The Common Good Coalition does not plan to be on election ballots. It will merely
endorse candidates willing to support the goals of the Government for the People
movement: the abolishing of political mismanagement and the reaching of the common
good state. The Common Good Coalition will also develop progressive and practical
solutions to the many national and world problems ignored by the political class.
The function of the Government for the People movement is to bring about needed changes to the Constitution for reforming the legislative branch of our government. In addition, we also need a transforming presidency, to ensure that the executive branch of our government will work together with a reformed Congress. The Common Good Coalition can be instrumental in achieving this goal. The cooperation of the executive and the legislative branches are needed to implement the moral, economic and social principles of the Common Good Covenant.
As a last resort, the Common Good Coalition will form a coalition with a new third party, to remove the obstacles to the needed changes. Something similar happened in the election of 1860, when the Republican Party, which was a new political party, became a dominating factor in American politics.
